Bulgaria prayer times
Daily and monthly prayer times for towns across Bulgaria. The times are calculated with the Muslim World League method, and every row is labelled as calculated with the method named.
Scope of this claim
No institutional timetable is served for Bulgaria. The times are calculated from each town’s coordinates with the Muslim World League method and have not been compared cell by cell with the calendar used in Bulgarian mosques, so this page makes no 0-minute claim.
Cities
Cities are listed by population. A city that is missing has no entry in the prayer-times database yet.
Calculation and source
- Method
- Muslim World League
- Fajr 18°, isha 17°; a calculation, not a published timetable.
- Asr
- Asr is shown at a shadow ratio of one, the ratio the mosque calendar in Bulgaria prints. You can switch to the Hanafi two-shadow Asr in the app; the other five times stay where they are.
- Precaution minutes
- None. The app adds no precaution minutes and personal minute adjustments start at zero.
- Time zone
- Bulgaria moves its clocks forward at the end of March and back at the end of October. Every row is written in the local time in force on that day, so there is nothing to convert by hand, but the times jump by an hour in the week the clocks change.
- Hijri calendar and crescent
- The start of Ramadan and both Eids is announced in Bulgaria by the Chief Mufti’s office. The Hijri date in the app is calculated and can differ from the announcement by a day.

How the times on this page are calculated
For Bulgaria the app does not read a timetable published by an institution; it calculates the times astronomically from each town’s coordinates. The method is that of the Muslim World League: fajr begins when the sun is 18 degrees below the horizon and isha when it is 17 degrees below, while sunrise, dhuhr, asr and maghrib follow from the position of the sun over the town on that day. It is a method widely used across the Balkans. It has not been compared cell by cell with the calendar used in Bulgarian mosques, so this page does not say “0-minute difference”, and every row is labelled as calculated.
Why your mosque’s calendar may differ by a few minutes
The Office of the Chief Mufti of Bulgaria publishes its own prayer calendar each year and most mosques call the adhan by it. Institutional calendars often add a few precaution minutes to the calculation — maghrib written a little later, fajr a little earlier. The app adds no such margin of its own. If you see a difference of a few minutes against your local mosque, the per-prayer minute adjustment in the app will bring the two together without changing the method itself.
From Kardzhali to Varna
Bulgaria looks compact, but Sofia in the west and Varna on the Black Sea are more than four degrees of longitude apart, which moves sunrise and sunset by around eighteen minutes. In the southern Rhodope towns — Kardzhali, Momchilgrad, Krumovgrad, Smolyan — the more southerly position shifts the summer maghrib and isha against Ruse and Silistra in the north. Do not read Sofia’s times as the times of the whole country; choose your own town or the nearest one listed.
Summer time, Asr and Ramadan
Bulgaria uses UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer. Because each row is written in the time in force on that day, the table handles the change for you. Asr defaults to the shadow-one ratio because the mosque calendar in Bulgaria prints it that way; the Hanafi shadow-two Asr can be selected in the app. During Ramadan the same data produces the Ramadan timetable, with fajr as suhoor and maghrib as iftar.
