Sources and methods

Times come either from an official institution’s published timetable or from the calculation method you choose. This page shows which one is used where.

Last checked: September 25, 2026 · We measure three things here: whether institutional timetables are complete for the days ahead, whether mosque and centre timetables are identical to their current publication, and how close the calculation comes to the published tables. The figures follow, institution by institution.

How close is the calculation to the published timetable?

Last checked: September 25, 2026

Where no institutional timetable exists, on days the timetable has not been published yet and while offline, the app calculates the times. We compared that calculation with the institutions’ own publications in 13 countries: 169,085 prayer-time cells, each of the six times separately. Each country’s default method was used, with no personal minute adjustment and no new tuning for the test.

Türkiye: Compared with Diyanet’s 2027 timetable: selected days in 81 provincial centres, and the full year in Adana, Ankara and Istanbul.

Pakistan: The calculation was fitted to the Banuri Town timetable at these 100 city points using 2026, so agreement in that year is not an independent test. The figures compare the 2027 calculation at the same points with the institution’s perpetual timetable, without any new fitting; places outside these points were not measured.

Bangladesh: Dhaka alone: 96.4% of 425 cells within ±1 min, largest difference 3 min. The total is pulled down by the different Asr convention of the Islamic Foundation perpetual timetable, which can be selected separately in the app, and by 3 Isha cells that the timetable itself marks as misprinted.

Iran: Tehran. The institution publishes only four times (Fajr, sunrise, Dhuhr and Maghrib), so Asr and Isha could not be compared. Last checked: September 22, 2026.

We make no accuracy claim for countries where we found no comparable institutional times: India, Nigeria, Sudan, Iraq, and Niger.

How we verify

Institutional timetables

We download the timetable an institution publishes automatically, from its own publication or from the service that relays it, store it and show it unchanged. On every maintenance run the next 30 days of every registered location are checked for missing or invalid rows; a gap raises an alert.

Mosque and centre timetables

We download the timetable a local mosque or centre publishes and keep the fingerprint (SHA-256) of the original file. Scanned publications are never left to OCR: the figures are entered in two separate readings. Days the source itself prints wrongly are not taken into the app.

Calculated times

Where there is no timetable, the time is calculated; those rows are marked “Calculated” and never presented as an institution’s timetable. We compare the calculation with institutional publications cell by cell and publish the difference on this page.

Evidence

Every number on this page comes from a dated measurement record that holds the fingerprints of the source files and the measurement script. “0-minute difference” is written only where an institution’s timetable is shown as published; a calculated row is never presented as an institutional timetable.

What does “0 minutes difference” mean?

When the published timetable of the institution you selected is in use, the times shown in the app are identical to it. Cases where the app falls back to a calculation method, or where a manual minute adjustment is applied, are not covered by this statement.

Countries outside that scope

Where no published institutional table exists, times are computed with one of 14 calculation methods. The app shows which method is used and lets you change it in settings.

Offline and updates

Offline, times are computed on your device and can differ from the published table by a few minutes; the source table is used again once you are online. Source links point to the institutions’ own publications. If you notice a change in a table, write to us with the city, date and source.

If you spot an error

Write to info@ezanim.app with the city, the date, the prayer and the source you compared against. We check the difference against the institution’s own publication. If the error is ours (a wrong location, a missing day, the wrong timetable matched), we fix it and carry the fix to the app and this site. If the difference comes from the institution’s timetable itself, we do not change the time it publishes; we reply with the reason. Messages are reviewed at least once a week.
