Kyrgyzstan prayer times

Daily and monthly prayer times for towns and villages across Kyrgyzstan. The times are calculated with the Muslim World League method, and every row is labelled as calculated with the method named.

Scope of this claim

No institutional timetable is served for Kyrgyzstan. The times are calculated from each place’s coordinates with the Muslim World League method and have not been compared cell by cell with the calendar used in Kyrgyz mosques, so this page makes no 0-minute claim.

Calculation and source

Method
Muslim World League
Fajr 18°, isha 17°; a calculation, not a published timetable.
Asr
Asr is shown at the Hanafi shadow ratio of two, following the established practice in Kyrgyzstan. The shadow-one Asr can be selected in the app; the other five times stay where they are.
Precaution minutes
None. The app adds no precaution minutes and personal minute adjustments start at zero.
Time zone
Kyrgyzstan does not observe daylight saving time, so the table never jumps by an hour. With one clock across a country that spans more than seven degrees of longitude, the western valleys see the sun rise noticeably later by the clock than the east.
Hijri calendar and crescent
The start of Ramadan and both Eids is announced by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan. The Hijri date in the app is calculated and can differ from the announcement by a day.

Which method the times use

For Kyrgyzstan the app does not read a timetable published by an institution; it calculates the times from each place’s coordinates. The method is that of the Muslim World League: fajr begins when the sun is 18 degrees below the horizon and isha when it is 17 degrees below, while sunrise, dhuhr, asr and maghrib follow from the sun’s position over the place on that day. The times have not been compared cell by cell with the calendar used in Kyrgyz mosques, so this page does not say “0-minute difference”, and every row is labelled as calculated.

From Batken to Karakol

Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country stretching from west to east. Batken at the edge of the Fergana Valley and Karakol east of Issyk-Kul are more than seven degrees of longitude apart, which moves sunrise and sunset by close to half an hour — on a single clock. In mountain valleys the sun can disappear behind the ridges earlier than the open horizon suggests, but the calculation uses the open horizon. Do not read Bishkek’s times as the times of the whole country; if your village is not listed, choose the nearest place in the same valley.

The difference with the mosque calendar

Institutional calendars often add a few precaution minutes to the calculation and may use different angles in different regions. The app adds no margin of its own. If you see a difference of a few minutes against your mosque, the per-prayer minute adjustment in the app will close it without changing the method. Small differences in the fajr and isha angles weigh more in summer, so compare on the same day and for the same place.

Clock, Asr and Ramadan

Kyrgyzstan uses UTC+6 all year and does not change its clocks, so there is no seasonal jump in the table. Because the established practice follows the Hanafi school, Asr defaults to the shadow-two ratio; the shadow-one Asr can be selected in the app. During Ramadan the same data produces the Ramadan timetable, with fajr as suhoor and maghrib as iftar.

Questions

Which calculation method does the app use for Kyrgyzstan?
The Muslim World League method: fajr at 18 degrees, isha at 17 degrees and the Hanafi shadow-two Asr. Every row is labelled as calculated.
My village is not listed. Which place should I choose?
Choose the nearest place in the same valley and at a similar longitude. A few kilometres east or west moves the times by less than a minute; a village on the other side of a mountain range can be further off.
Does Kyrgyzstan observe summer time?
No. The country uses UTC+6 all year; the times move with the sun but never jump because of a clock change.
